Who We Are

Jordana Deveau and Jesse Dell originally founded JDdance (JDd) in 2009 as a platform to challenge, develop and hone their own choreographic, interpretive and performance skills.  Over the last five years JDd has evolved into a multifaceted collective that fosters professional collaboration, performance, and production opportunities for both emerging and established artists in the Toronto dance community.

JDd has presented work in a variety of events and festivals including Dance Matters, The Toronto Fringe Festival, Scotia Bank Nuit Blanche, Guelph Dance Festival, and dance:made in Canada. JDd’s first dance film was selected for the Dans Kamera Istanbul film festival and JDd was invited to present their work at the first Festival of Dance Annapolis Royal (FODAR) in Nova Scotia in 2014. JDd has also staged two full-evening productions: ‘Ink to flesh’ (2010) created and produced by JDd and presented by The Young Centre for the Performing Arts; and ‘episodesIandscapes’ (2013) co-created & co-produced with Tracey Norman and presented by Danceworks CoWorks.

  1. I saw Ink to Flesh at the Young Centre for the Performing Arts and it was stunningly beautiful, gracefully athletic, rhythmically sensual and thought-provoking. As a woman in these mad times I appreciate the attention you give to the social construction of beauty and the chains it places on our bodies. I like how your choreography explores the way things are and asks us to challenge and cast aside these untruths in favour of revealing true beauty in free and powerful movement. Thank-you to all 3 of you! Please keep creating!
